Hopepunk

Hopepunk is a new genre in American literature that authors use to share a passion in a certain topic regardless of how controversial it is. So the genre shows/allows characters to stand up for what/who they believe in which is why it has the root word of "hope" because they are hopeful for something to happen or change. I think this matters to authors because especially in society nowadays there is a lot of negativity from disagreements and some people become shy to share their actual thoughts or feelings on a certain topic that they might be passionate about but this genre gives authors the ability to be expressive through their writing which I think is important in today's society.
