Killing the Curious Cat

In Catch-22, Colonel Korn's "genius policy" is that the "only people permitted to ask questions were those who never did". I imagine that this would have an enlightening effect on society as it is something we do everyday. This really reminds me of school because for some reason whenever a student is in their classroom, there is hardly any questions ever asked by the students for multiple reasons why but it really shows how fear can really "kill the curious cat". That's why this line is so true because at school that is the one place where kids have a huge resource to ask question about a certain topic they're learning and have the freedom to ask questions, but typically none of us do/take this opportunity to let out curiosity grow and expand our knowledge.

  1. You've identified a really important issue here! Since there isn't an official policy at school against asking questions, and it seems to be more of a cultural/personal comfort issue, what do you think it would take to change? What would make more people comfortable to take the risk and ask for clarification, explanation, or feedback about what's on their mind?
