A Second Helping of Socratic Seminar

During today's socratic seminar here are some ideas that stood out to me the most:

-Right: something others should honor
ex: pedestrians have the right-a-way = motorist have an obligation to stop
-Argument is a search for truth
-Saying "I am entitled to my opinion" cuts off the argument/conversation therefor no real truth is found
-Everyone at the end of the day wants to feel accepted meaning people lose the importance of the argument (no one wants to stand out)
-Logic/reasoning is sometimes lost when neither is able to have an open mind
-Focus on the issue, hard on the problem, easy on the people
