Communication Strategies of a Hacker
In "Conscious of a Hacker", "The Mentor's" use of diction, syntax, and tone effectively conveyed his message because of the use of his repetition, variety of complex/blunt words, and his annoyed and passionate tone. In "Conscious of a Hacker", the way the author structured his writing really stood out to me. Not only was the font and format very similar to the stereotypical hacker format but also the repetition in word that helped convey his message and also his tone. Words such as "damn","criminal", and "kid" were used very frequently throughout his writing and to me this helped me understand how the author is trying to conveying his message of resentment towards his subject audience of possibly teachers or even just adults in general. Through these words I also was able to figure out the tone of this text and realized how annoyed, passionate and even distraught the author was that the feelings it conveyed to me really intrigued me. This all helps convey his message that everyone is treated poorly if we "stand-out" or are "different" from the status- quo yet everyday we are told that we should be ourselves because we are unique. So hacking to learn more out of curiosity shouldn't be something that is outcasted but rather followed.
