As We Grow We Change
What makes a character from a storyline dynamic is how/if that character's personality develops and changes throughout the plot of the story. For example in Fahrenheit 451 the protagonist, Montag, is a dynamic character because the way he acted/thought at the beginning of the story is way different then how he behaved at the end. At the beginning in the novel, when we first learn about Montag and how he is a firefighter was how he interpreted fire, he "loved to burn". He saw destruction as a good thing while he burned books, he actually enjoyed it a lot, however near the end of the book that was not the case. Towards the end of the book when he encountered a fire pit while he was on the run the way he perceived fire changed. He saw how warming and how much light a fire could bring, not just destruction but this light that allowed him to see things in a different light. This change of perception of fire altered the Montag's personality which changed his way of thinking. He went from becoming almost this thoughtless robot to this curious humane character which shows his growth as a person as a dynamic character. This kind of event can change a character because we develop our personality through experiences as we learn how to navigate what we believe as right and wrong. The reason this character changes is because without a dynamic character in a story, no real lesson/moral will be learned from the story. As humans we learn through stories, experiences, and connection with others and if we had a static character as our protagonist then no changes would happen that we as readers could learn from. This character's evolution reflects the the overall theme and tone of the book as it brings to light the issue that was at stake and with such a dramatic shift readers can understand the theme and tone of the book. In this story specifically the main reason that our character Montag was dynamic character was the aspects of his perspectives and how they changes over time really showed the theme of the story and what the importance of it was as we can learn from it. Another thing readers interpreted from the author was the tone. With a dynamic character, the original "flaws" that turn into better characteristics show also what the author struggles with or what we as humanity are flawed in, which really sets the tone of the story altering the way we feel as we read the book.
