The Right To Read

Background: Write a letter to the president were in a society just outlawed the right to read

Dear Mr President,
Hello my name is Deanna and on behalf of the American people we had a major concern that has arisen in out society. You recently outlawed the right to read and and it has got me to wonder, on what morals allowed you do outlaw such an activity. Let me give you a quick reminder of our history as a country. When we started to fight for the revolution because we believed in natural rights, that every person had the freedom of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness (in those times it was also property) once they were born. When we wrote our Constitution or Declaration of Independence we based our country off of these ideas in order to preserve the rights for all citizens and as a citizen of this country today writing, reading and overall education has gotten me to the point I am today. People deserve the right to further their knowledge through reading if they wish too because isn't that what helps you get to the position you are today? Without reading all of us would lose contact with not only our imagination but humanity itself. One major way humans express themselves is through writing and when that is taken away, your eliminating their right to freedom of expression. Humans need to express themselves in order to connect/develop with others that if you take this ability away from them it decreases that possibility of expression/connection that without those key components to society, I truly don't believe you would be in the position you are today and neither would our humanity be. So please revisit the law you just passed and think about what you are truly causing because after all as you read this letter, this is basically defeating the purpose of your law. Now can't you realize how important it is to be able to read? Thank you for your time and consideration.
From
Deanna B.
