    1. Nick's first impression was that Daisy was a little too self-indulgent and Tom was straightforward and almost too cocky.
    2. An important trait about Nick is that he is someone who people trust, and he's honest.
    3. At the end of the chapter when we first see Gatsby, Nick notices him appear at the end of the dock with a green light, then vanish.
    4. We find out that Tom has a mistress named Myrtle.
    5. By the end of the night Nick is intoxicated and he's waiting at a station reading a newspaper in the morning.
    6. The first party is described as something lively and so much elegant chaos, with many clinks of drinks and ecstatic laughter. It's just a great vibe.
    7. As Nick starts to meet more people, he realizes that he is one of the few honest people he's ever met.
    8. We learn that Gatsby's secret is that he's been after Daisy ever since that time he couldn't say goodbye before leaving for war.
