Great Gatsby Notes-end of chapter 2
Here are some of my random thoughts tat stood out to me to help me better understand the Great Gatsby:
-Catherine told Nick that Daisy is a catholic but thats a lie--> show ppl tell Nick secrets but ppl sometimes lie
-Nick feels like an outside as he sat with them
-the writing style of the author's has very intentional diction and syntax
- writing run-ons to show how our narrator was drunk, making us feel the feelings of the narrator
-his use of the word "violence/violent"
-Daisy is Tom's wife and Myrtle (the mistress girlfriend) but as Myrtle was thinking she is the queen of the house, Tom would not let her say anything about Daisy by punching her in the nose
-Gatsby's parties are so elaborate but only filled with laughter from the alcohol that is spreading everywhere which made these parties grand
-contemptuous: judgmental expression but borderline anger/hatred
