Great Gatsby Notes

MY very quick thoughts as I was still trying to understand the intro into the Great Gatsby:
-eyes: symbolize the true vision// reality
-Wilson's wife is Tom's girlfriend who basically just went behind her husband's back to have an affair with Tom even if Tom is constantly drunk and overall crazy
-these people are crazy: ex buying dogs randomly without a home etc.
-What is the valley of ashes?
