Great Gatsby Notes

In my English class we've started reading the Great Gatsby, here are my thoughts:

-Tom B. is a bit of a show off , very controlling 

-the author uses a lot of imaginative words to make the most boring of things/scenes more intriguing like a simple breeze coming through a window 

-Daisy is never in the present,, always looking forward or behind, totally self-absorbed 

-West (work) vs. East (self/proper)

-Tom is very judgmental racist (+bring them down) 

-character's name is Nick Carraway 

-Women are looked down upon : "And I hope she'll be a fool-that's the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool" -Daisy's thoughts on her daughter
